Charleston SC Hotel Concierge

Proactive, Personalized, Passionate….Experience The Real Charleston
As our guest we want to make sure you maximize your vacation and enjoy the best of what Charleston has to offer. We try as concierges to get away from a “one size fits all” mentality in our recommendations of what to do while you are here. Instead, we like to ask lots of questions to get a sense of what you are looking for, in the belief that in the more questions you ask, the more customized our suggestions will be to your individual needs. Many times, concierges tend to be reactive rather than proactive, passively sitting there giving out information only in response to your direct questions. Not us. Instead, we will be proactive and not be afraid to look at your proposed itinerary and let you know what is missing in your game plan of what to do while you are here. That is the difference between a good concierge and a great concierge.
And finally, we try to always keep in mind that you did not come to seek out our guidance to get suggestions that are already listed in every other guidebook in Charleston. So we try to get away from the cliché and instead try to keep our suggestions fresh, original, and a little bit off the beaten path. Our goal is to get you to see beyond the surface of Charleston and to instead give you suggestions where you will really feel like you are experiencing what we call “the essence of a place,” the real soul of Charleston. In the end, we want you to walk away after an interaction with us saying, “You know what? It was a different, and more interesting trip, because of them.”

Les Clefs d'Or
The Courtyard by Marriott Charleston Historic District is proud to announce that it is the only the third hotel in the Charleston area and only the fifth hotel in South Carolina to have a concierge inducted into the prestigious, international organization of the world's best concierges, Les Clefs d'Or.
Les Clefs d'Or is the international association of professional concierges. It has approximately 520 members in the United States and only 3,500 members in the world. Our chief concierge, Kevin McQuade, was certified and inducted into the worldwide roster of Les Clefs d'Or in June of 2005. He is one of only two concierges in downtown Charleston to archive this honor.
Mr. McQuade's induction is testimony to the high standard of service for which the Courtyard by Marriott Charleston Historic District is known. Les Clefs d'Or (which means "The Golden Keys" in French) is a worldwide organization open only to hotel lobby concierges who are able to pass a rigorous certification process.
To become a member, candidates must have at least five years experience in the hotel industry and be sponsored by two other members of Les Clefs d'Or. You can recognize Mr. McQuade's achievement by the crossed gold keys that he wears on the lapels of his suit jacket. The crossed gold keys are the international symbol of Les Clefs d'Or. But they are more than just a symbol of the organization- they are recognized around the world by discerning travelers as a symbol of excellence and of guaranteed, quality service. They keys are meant to assure travelers that they are dealing with a seasoned professional, a professionally trained concierge who has built up the skills and contacts to open doors for you throughout the city and indeed the world.
