The South Carolina Stingrays are three time Kelly Cup Champions. The new trophy was awarded for the first time in the 1997 Finals to the South Carolina Stingrays. Patrick Kelly, whose hockey career spanned more than four decades as a player, general manager and coach, is one of the founding fathers of the ECHL and served as league commissioner for eight years.
